VOLUNTEER DESCRIPTIONS

DAY OF EVENT
Please note time commitments are approximate. Check the volunteer signup website for specific times. You may sign up for several volunteer positions. Attendance at a volunteer training meeting is required for positions marked with an asterisk (*).

Banners: Wave banners and direct traffic toward the Ride for Kids event at key locations around our start point. Approximate time commitment 7:30–9:45 a.m.

Break Down Crew: Help pack up supplies and make sure we leave the place as clean as we found it. Approximate time commitment 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Food Distribution: Set up, distribution, and clean up of breakfast pastries, coffee and lunch. Approximate time commitment range from 6:00–10:00 a.m. to 10:00–12 noon.

Greeter- AMA*: Welcome riders to the event and get them to sign the AMA waiver. Approximate time commitment 7:00–9:00 a.m.

Greeter- Registration*: Welcome riders to the event and assist them with filling out registration forms. Approximate time commitment 7:00–9:00 a.m.

Setup Crew: Assist with setting up the tent the day before the event. Involves some heavy lifting (moving tables and chairs mostly).

Parking*: Assist with directing traffic. It's preferable that parking volunteers have a motorcycle license or understand the logistics of parking a motorcycle. Approximate time commitment 6:00 a.m. – noon.

Patient Family*: Assist our Stars and their families with checking in, helmet fitting, and assigning VIP escorts. Approximate time commitment 7:30 a.m. – noon.

Photo Team: Assist with event photography. Approximate time commitment 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Poster Crew: In the month prior to the ride, we need volunteers to put up ride posters in businesses along the route. There is no in-person training required and you can hang posters on your own time or buddy up with a friend.

Premium Distribution*: Distribute T-shirts, hats and other premiums to those who bring eligible donations. You must be 21 years of age to volunteer in Premiums. Approximate time commitment 7:00–10:00 a.m.

Registration*: Review registration forms and collect donations. You must be 21 years of age to do volunteer with Registration. Approximate time commitment 7:00–9:45 a.m.

Registration: Chapter/Club & Dealer Recognition*: Assist riders with giving credit to their favorite clubs/chapters and dealers. Approximate time commitment 7:00–10:00 a.m.

VIP Escort: Motorcyclists with sidecars, trikes with backrests and motorcycles with backrests can volunteer to take Stars and their family as passengers on the ride. Please contact our Patient Family Liaison to sign up. Approximate time commitment 8:00 a.m. – noon. Remember to bring your drivers license, vehicle registration, and proof of insurance!

Wristband Checker*: Make sure riders have wristbands before heading out on the ride. Approximate time commitment 9:45–10:15 a.m.

TASK FORCE TEAM
The Task Force meets once a month from September through May planning the event ahead. We always welcome more team members. All that's required is desire and a 'Can Do!' attitude.

Food Team: Communicate with our wonderful food sponsors during the year, especially as the event day approaches.

Fundraising Team: Help individuals and clubs with starting fundraisers during the year.

Logistics Team: Handle site logistics and permits, as well as anything and everything else that isn't already covered by the other teams!

Media Team: Contact various media outlets and supply them with PSAs to promote the ride.

Parking Team: Assist with the parking of riders, volunteers and sponsors. Assure that the ride leaves and arrives smoothly.

Patient Family Team: Assure the Stars and their families are provided for at the ride. Sign up VIP escorts.

Recruitement Team: Visit local clubs, dealerships and bike nights spreading the word about Ride for Kids!

Sponsor Team: Approach businesses and ask them to become members of the Ride for Kids® family by donating cash or goods.

Volunteer Team: Keep in touch with our hundreds of volunteers. Assure that each volunteer position is filled by the day of our ride.
